Join us for a week of theater fun and games culminating in a play performance! We will spend the week developing acting and performance skills such as character development and presentation, stage awareness, storytelling, and working collaboratively. The play itself will be determined after enrollment is closed and will be based on the ages and experience of the campers. This camp is intended to be a fun and positive introduction to theater exploration, with an emphasis on the joy of the process rather than the finished product. This camp is appropriate for the beginning actor as well as those with some experience!

This camp will be a fun-filled and action-packed two weeks rehearsing and performing an original musical: Camp Sunshine! This play was developed by DRT students three years ago, and we can’t wait to see it performed in a whole new way. Intermediate Performance Camp will focus on exploring and developing the skills needed for performance, focusing heavily on character development, communication with fellow actors and other members of the production team, and building a tight-knit ensemble. While we will spend the majority of our time working on the play itself, there will still be plenty of room for acting and improvisation games that will both help us explore skills and have fun! Our session will culminate with two fully-staged performances of our show at The Gray Space. This camp is appropriate for the beginning actor as well as those with more experience.
*Please note that participants must be able to memorize lines fairly quickly, and be willing to do this work outside of camp time.
ADVANCED PERFORMANCE CAMP (ages 14-18)

Advanced Performance Camp is back for its fifth summer! Join us for two weeks of jam-packed theater fun as we rehearse and perform an original musical: "Chateau De La Morte." This brand-new play is a thrilling murder mystery with complex characters and powerful themes of family connection, love, and the importance of telling your own story. It was devised and workshopped this spring by our Play Creation class, and will have original music written for us by Savannah Yates. We are so excited for its world-premiere!
This camp will focus on exploring and developing the skills needed for performance, focusing heavily on character development, communication with fellow actors and other members of the production team, and building a tight-knit ensemble. This is a rigorous and fast-paced experience best suited for those comfortable working cooperatively in a focused theater environment and is therefore not recommended for beginners. Our two-week session will culminate with two fully-staged performances of our show.
*Please note that participants must be able to memorize lines fairly quickly, and be willing to do this work outside of camp time.
